Got one for myself and then one for a friend, lovely pics and most informative. A present for the wife, she seems to like it. What a stunning book to accompany the TV series showing Japanese gardens in all their glory in Spring and Autumn, makes you want to visit. Fantastic book with easy prose and fabulous photography. Well written with lots of pictures This is really a great book that is not only well written, but the photography is stunning to say the least.A series on Monty s trip to Japan was released to coincide with this book so have watched this, the book felt even special as it prompted memories from the televised programme.I had a passing interest in Japanese gardens but this book has drawn me into the topic this to a greater depth.The book is not only a great gardening narrative, but it also has a sociological and historical perspective, which I think is what has underpinned my engagement.A really lovely book indeed, and one I would recommend for anyone who is interested in Japanese gardens, but also wants to make the connection with the country s history and culture.
