I bought this book while completing my BA Hons in Education Studies, I wish I d bought it sooner This book supported most of my assignments, which I found extremely helpful It covers a large variety of theorists and not just the usual Piaget, Vygotsky etc It is very detailed and well laid out, making the information easy to read and understand This is a must have for anyone working within early education. I am currently studying the Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training and have found the reading for assignments a struggle Books on theorists don t tend to be gripping Bob Bates Learning Theories Simplified has done just that, broken down theory into easy to comprehend chapters, which has been invaluable to my learning journey It covers a wide range of theorists and models and has been useful than all the other books I have combined. Admittedly I sourced this out of curiosity rather than any academic or work related need It has sufficient material to give you a grasp and is usable It is also pretty comprehensive in breadth if not, by necessity, in depth Makes a great starting point I am pressed I bought it as it served as both a reminder and a starting point on theories I either hadn t considered for years or was aware of. Great little book, explains theories simple enough to understand but not to simple I m an undergrad studying special needs and we cover so much different theories it can be overwhelming but with this book it s easy to grasp, remember and apply the theories where needed Definitely worth purchasing if you struggle to grasp the theories or fully understand them. Excellent for trainee teachers looking to understand educational theory. A required reading textbook for my PGCE.Informative Liked the way the theories were broken down and then each advocate explored.Great for my essay. Like the book, simplifies theories if you can t quite get your head wraped round them, get for people studying social science, social work, teaching or psychology. This book was very useful for my Leanring Theory course I used it for multiple papers I love its simplicity. Are you struggling to get your head around John Dewey s educational pragmatism What exactly is Jean Piaget saying about cognitive development Maybe you re running out of time and patience making sense of Carol Dweck s mindsets Have you reached breaking point reading Daniel T Willingham on educational neuroscience Written for busy teachers, trainers, managers and students, this dip in, dip out guide makes theories of learning accessible and practical It exploresclassic and contemporary learning theorists in an easy to use, bite sized format with clear relevant illustrations on how each theory will benefit teaching and learning Each model or theory is explained in less thanwords, followed by a how to use it section What s new to this edition A new early childhood theorists section A new communication theories section Additional on trend theorists throughout New critical view features added to each entry This book has a 2 page spread of dozens of educational philosophers It s a great place to start some deeper research.
