I ve tried and tested a lot of different books, drills, on line and offline but this is by far the best I ve come across, especially with slightly younger kids as they find the variety of exercises really engaging and stimulating There is a whole host of exercises to pick from and I nornally get the kids to pick the ones they want to do, read the instructions, do the set up and almost take the set up and it s amazing the effect it has on how they do the session. The thing I love about this book is there is something for everyone and it keeps the kids fully engaged as they know the next session will be different to the next and that if desired it will build on from the previous one. This book has now found a place in my training bag This is a fantastic, easy to digest and practical resource for coaches at all stages of their coaching career Peter has a very clear way of explaining his thought process, steers clear of using coaching jargon for the sake of it and like all good coaching books you will come away with questions and ideas for your own work Thoroughly recommend for anyone who works with young player whether that be in grassroots or academy football. This is a brilliant resource for all different kinds of age groups It really focuses on the relationship between the player and the ball The 3v3 sessions are clear to understand enabling you to implement them at all levels The way they re shown with diagrams and explanations allow us to to get creative and put our own spin on them too Whether you ve been coaching for 10 mins or 10 years, this is a great resource of 3v3 sessions for all I highly recommend this book. This has been an excellent resource for me as a grassroots coach It explains the theory really clearly and backs that up with a huge range of examples and drills A brilliant resource for all coaches. a Thoroughly worthwhile resource I am using it to implement the content into a grass roots development centre and my work with local schools Really highlights the important relationship between player and ball and helps us coaches deliver activities and games to develop that A great buy. Great book for session ideas for all age groups, i am a big fan of 3 vs 3 and have used a lot of the ideas from 4 13 year olds, there also new ideas i hadnt thought of, cant wait to mix match and be creative with this book Highly recommend this book to anyone, especially coaches working in the foundation phase Great work Peter As soccer players develop, they need to become truly confident with the ball, and the best way to achieve mastery is by maximising their touches on the ball So, how can we offer lots of interactions with the ball and learn the key principles of the sport Through triangles a shape at the heart of football, in both attack and defence, and which is comprised of three playersIn this book, coaches of all levels, working with players across all age groups and abilities, will learn to utilise the v method to develop skilful individuals and effective teams The book builds up from v to v through technical exercises that improve individual skills Then, it moves beyond v, adding in players including goalkeepers , as situations demand itWith a core v training foundation, players will be able to explore and cement numerous key parts to their games, with depth and width, unlocking the various combinations such as overlaps, one twos, third man runs, and which are used at all levels of the sport At the same time, players will have ample opportunities to develop and perfect creative dribbling movesDeveloping Skill A Guide to v Soccer Coaching outlines how you can use and incorporate the v method in your training and provides thanready to use, illustrated practices It also details how best to run warm ups, how to work with different pitch sizes and shapes, and muchAbout the author Peter Prickett is an FA affiliate tutor with a decade of experience coaching with various organisations He was one of the first coaches in England to obtain the UEFA B Futsal qualification Peter is currently studying for a Masters in Performance Football Coaching Well worth getting this book by Peter and will add to a coaches toolkit. Overall good book I really like the theory of why to use 3v3 practices the gradual progressions to get to that stage, but the exercises could have been detailed polished Probably needed to be better edited too.If you know what to look for, there are a bunch of golden nuggets in here for coaches to take away I liked the type of combinations movements to use in a 3v3 game, liked the breakdown of pitch zones type of pitches to use to get certain outcomes.I agree that at the end of the book, it says practices need to be exciting engaging these type of practices allow that to happen I do believe at the younger age groups, dribbling creativity outplaying your direct opponent is crucial I do wish coach education across the board would emphasize these type of practices..players don t like functional phase of play all that much as its not stimulating.Overall good resource, light easy to readjust needed polish overall I d probably put Ray Power s deliberate practice sessions over these as they are way detailed. I thought, the inside images will be also be in color its hard to differentiate If the display images were in color i would give 5 And also, the drills are not satisfying not clear enough to understand.
