Obviously written by a very experienced artist and an excellent teacher of the subject The art work is so scientific and specialised, as well as being beautiful to look at, that the book is recommended to watercolourists who love detailed workand the world of plants

I was looking for instruction on shading techniques There is a short paragraph dedicated to each type and 1 illustration This is great if you already know this stuff and just need a reminder It s not enough for me The book however is very interesting to read particularly the part on botanical history The author is good at presenting history as to actually make it really enjoyable There are also chapters on watercolor which is of no use to me I would recommend to try get this book at the library to see if it is useful to you or if you can get it for cheap I paid full price and it is too much for how much useable information I have gotten in improving my botanical drawing.

I love to grow plants and I admire the work of breeders I have learned to take better photos but getting the colours exactly is nearly impossible Understanding each part of a plant makes it easier to be accurate.I enjoyed reading about early illustrators.
